Start-up companies

2013 – Multimodal Imaging Lab Activities”, “M.I.L.A. s.r.l. (Italy): The aim of this spin-off company is the implementation of the “state of the art” tools for the post processing of medical images. Actually, it is fully involved in research programs for the post-processing analysis of diffusive-Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), fat/water quantification, and perfusion MRI (http://mila.unime.it/).

2010 – GoParallel s.l. (Spain): The research activity developed in the last years from a collaboration with the University of Salamanca (Spain) gives rise to a start-up company “GoParallel” (2010). (http://www.goparallel.org/). In general “GoParallel” is specialized on speeding up the performances of complex scientific simulations, more specifically on simulations of magnetic microstructures. In fact, actually the main aim of this start-up company is the development of a micromagnetic simulator implemented on GPUs. The main two advantages of this approach are the possibility to simulate a very large amount of cells and the high speed of the computations. I’m administrative committee member of the company and I’m fully involved in the coordination of the work for the software implementation and optimization.

The start-up achieved the following research funding and awards:

> 2013-2016 – Funding ID: SEP210059242. Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITN) Call: FP7-PEOPLE-2013-ITN. Title: “Controlling domain wall dynamics for functional devices”. As consulting company of the University of Salamanca.

> 2010-2012 – Funding ID: 20110231 – CDTI (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial) – http://www.cdti.es/ – Spain. Funding given to the startup company “GoParallel” (http://www.goparallel.net/) “Implementation of a parallel (GPU-based) micromagnetic solver”. €200.000.

> 2012 : Award ‘Premios Sociedad Civil 2012’ from the Universidad de Salamanca.

Since 2016 – MARIS (Monitoraggio Ambientale e Ricerca Innovativa Strategica)

He is delegate for the Rector of UNIME to participate in the Shareholders’ Meetings of MARIS (http://www.maris-ricerca.eu/en?set_language=en).
