MAGNET 2019

The 6th Italian Conference on Magnetism will be held in Messina, from January 30 to February 1, 2019. The Conference is promoted by the Italian Magnetism Society and organized by the “University of Messina”.  The Conference is aimed at presenting and discussing recent achievements in both fundamental and applied magnetism, putting together researchers from Universities, public Research Institutions and companies working in the field of magnetism.

Magnet topics include:

  • Spin-dependent transport and spin electronics.
  • Soft and hard magnetic materials.
  • Two dimensional magnetism, thin films and multilayers.
  • Surfaces and interfaces.
  • Nanomagnetism, nanoparticles, and nanostructures.
  • Quantum spin systems and molecular magnetism.
  • Micromagnetics, magnetization dynamics, spin dynamics.
  • Superconductivity and magnetism.
  • Biomagnetism and interdisciplinary topics.
  • Multiferroics and multifunctional magnetic materials.
  • Advanced measurement techniques.
  • Applications (energy, magnetic recording, sensors).
  • Magnetic solitons (Skyrmions, domain, wall, bullet, droplets)
  • Antiferromagnets and THz dynamics.
  • Spincaloritronics.
  • Spinorbitronics
  • Electrical machines and magnetic hysteresis.

Messina (Italy)

Messina is the third-largest city on the island of Sicily, and the 13th-largest city in Italy. It is located near the northeast corner of Sicily, at the Strait of Messina, opposite Villa San Giovanni on the mainland, and has close ties with Reggio Calabria. The city’s main resources are its seaports (commercial and military shipyards), cruise tourism, commerce, and agriculture (wine production and cultivating lemons, oranges, mandarin oranges, and olives). The city has the University of Messina, founded in 1548 by Ignatius of Loyola.
